Westwego Police Officer Michael Louviere was shot in the back of the head and killed early Friday, January 20, 2017.
Westwego Police Officer Michael Louviere, age 26, graduated first in his class from the Kenner Police Academy, where he won multiple awards.
He was a husband and the father of two young children!

His brother, a New Orleans Police Officer, said that “he was an excellent person and cared about people, and that he was “a family man and a man of God.”
Officer Michael Louviere had ended his shift at 6:00 AM and was traveling on Armes Blvd on his way home in his unmarked patrol car. He saw what appeared to be a traffic accident near the intersection with Barataria Boulevard and stopped to help. Officer Louviere was in full uniform when he stopped to help the woman who was involved in the accident, later identified as Simone Veal.
Westwego Police Officer Michael Louviere, age 26, graduated first in his class from the Kenner Police Academy, where he won multiple awards. Officer Louviere was a U.S. Marine who served in Afghanistan before joining the police force in July 2015.
Funds raised are intended for Officer Michael Louviere's Wife and two young children. In the rare case they cannot be directly delivered to the family, the funds will be allocated the Westwego Police Department.
