Deputy Mike Naylor from the Midland County Sheriff's Office was shot and killed on Thursday while serving a warrant for child sexual abuse charges.
Deputy Naylor was a long time member of the Sheriff’s Office.
Deputy Naylor was a senior officer in the Mental Health Unit, awarded honors for his service in the Civil Warrants Division.
He was also commander of the Sheriff's Office Honor Guard, leading dozens of fellow deputies in paying respects to those who have given so much to serve us all.
Naylor was the commander of the sheriff’s office’s Honor Guard and the sergeant of the Crisis Response Team. His colleagues remember him as a loving husband, a man of tremendous Christian faith and a dedicated leader with a passion for serving his community. Before serving his county, Naylor served his country. He retired from the Air Force after 26 years with the rank of senior master sergeant.
Eleven of his comrades gathered Saturday afternoon at the Midland County Annex to share their favorite memories of their fallen brother.
Lori Fuson, a lieutenant in the Honor Guard and investigator on the Crisis Response Team, said Naylor was more than just a go-getter.
Outside of work, Mike loved horses and roping, but most of all, he loved his wife, Denise!
