On Thursday, May 24th, 2018, we lost our beloved, Matthew Barber entirely too soon due to a medical incident.
Detective Sergeant Matthew Barber was a thirteen-year veteran of the Takoma Park Police Department. He was assigned to the Special Assignment Team. Prior to being hired with Takoma Park Police, Matt started his career working in Maryland Law Enforcement with the Montgomery County Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation in 2002.
Matt was an exceptional Police Officer, but is known to all as an amazing father. Those that knew him can attest to the undeniable love and devotion he had for his two beautiful daughters, 7 year old, Kialee and 5 year old, Kora.
All funds raised will go towards Kialee & Kora.
No donation is too big or small and is greatly appreciated.
Matt's passing will forever be an open void to his Police Department, Department of Corrections and all that have been blessed to know him and his infectious laughter.
Please continue to also keep the entire family, including his wife, Kalihah, in your prayers.
Thank you!
Cpl. James A. Rice
Montgomery County Department of Corrections & Rehabilitation.
