Officer Swisher was on duty responding to a call (non emergency run) when a vehicle crossed the center line striking Officer Swisher's fully marked squad causing him to be trapped in his squad car.
After being extricated Officer Swisher was transported to a trauma hospital then air lifted to Loyola where he had to undergo a major surgery to rebuild his pelvis.
Officer Swisher has a long road to recovery ahead of him.
