Information Disclosure This statement outlines the privacy practices of OfficerDown.US. We have clearly marked the OfficerDown.US website with our logos and/or copyright notices so you know where this policy applies. It does not apply to any other companies’ or organizations’ websites to which we link, and you should check their privacy policies when visiting their sites.
The only personally identifiable information collected by OfficerDown.US is information that you provide voluntarily. Other than that, OfficerDown.US collects only mechanical information necessary to manage and enhance the user experience and to create statistics of general, non-user-specific information.
OfficerDown.US and our hosting and metrics services collect some anonymous information about general usage of the sites through a technology tool called a “cookie.” The cookie is used to maintain logged-on status, among other things. OfficerDown.US uses both session cookies and persistent cookies. Persistent cookies remain after you close your browser for subsequent visits to the site. Persistent cookies can be removed by following your web browser help file directions. A session cookie is temporary and disappears when you close your browser. As with any cookie, if you do not want a cookie set then you need to disable your cookies setting in your browser. Please be aware that doing so may disable your ability to stay logged in to the Service and to use other aspects of our site.
OfficerDown.US web pages, including campaign listings and user postings, if any, may contain links to other websites. Please note that when you click on one of these links you are clicking to another website. OfficerDown.US has no responsibility for anything on any website to which you link.
OfficerDown.US does not provide any personally identifiable information to third-parties without your consent other than broad demographic groupings, or except as part of a specific program or feature for which you will have the ability to opt-in or opt-out. However, please note that if a campaign manager asks OfficerDown.US to show a campaign to a certain audience (i.e. people in a certain state or city) or audience segment (i.e. people who have viewed certain categories of campaigns), or if and when we incorporate a recommendation engine into the Service then we may use certain of your data to enable that.
We will send you email relating to your personal use of the site, including account registration confirmations, account information and alerts, campaign confirmations, campaign updates and alerts, etc. Furthermore, campaign managers receive the email addresses of their backers once the campaign is closed. You hereby consent to being “opted in” to receive email communications from us and from campaign managers.
A WORD OF CAUTION:
OfficerDown.US uses commercially reasonable technical safeguards to preserve the integrity and security of your personal information. We cannot, however, ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to, or publish on the Service and you agree that you do so at your own risk. Once we receive your publication or transmission of information or Content, OfficerDown.US makes commercially reasonable efforts to secure our systems. However, please note that this is not a guarantee that such information may not be accessed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed by breach of any of our physical, technical, or managerial safeguards.
OfficerDown.US’ Commitment to Privacy of Children Protecting the privacy of children is important to us. For that reason, and in accordance with the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act, OfficerDown.US does not knowingly collect or maintain any personally identifiable information on the Service from persons under 15 years of age, and no part of our Service or website is directed to persons under 15. If you are under 15 years of age then you are not authorized to use or access the OfficerDown.US’ website at any time nor in any manner. If OfficerDown.US learns that personally identifiable information of persons under 15 years of age has been published on the Service, then OfficerDown.US will take the immediate, appropriate steps to remove this information, and may take the additional step of reporting to legal authorities.
In the Event of Sale, Merger, Acquisition, or Bankruptcy In the event that OfficerDown.US is acquired by or merged with a third party entity, we reserve the right, in any of these circumstances, to transfer or assign the information we have collected from our Users as part of such merger, acquisition, sale, or other change of control. In the unlikely event of our bankruptcy, insolvency, reorganization, receivership, or assignment for the benefit of creditors, or the application of laws or equitable principles affecting creditors’ rights generally, we may not be able to control how your personal information is treated, transferred, or used.
